Thailand succeeded in establishing the Thai Myopain Society and has recently initiated the process to become the Thai chapter of the International Myopain Society. In the last 2 years, the society has grown to 248 members.
The business meeting at the Eighth World Congress on Myofascial pain and Fibromyalgia, October 3-7, 2010 help in Toledo, Spain established an urgency to expand the distribution of knowledge of myopain conditions to all parts of the world by encouraging the establishment of regional chapter. Thus, on September 30, 2011, a multidisciplinary team of physicians and paramedical clinicians in Thailand succeeded in establishing the Thai Myopain Society as IMS Thai Chapter. The main objective of the chapter is to promote the knowledge, improve the skills, and understanding of soft tissue pain conditions with particular focus on myofascial pain and fibromyalgia, two of the most commonly overlooked chronic pain problems. In the last 2 years, the chapter has grown to 248 members and our annual scientific and mid-year meeting in the past was received a very good attendance and feedback. And our upcoming 2nd annual scientific meeting will be held in Bangkok, January, 25-26th, 2014. The connection, sharing and working together with IMS headquarter has boosted our confidence in moving forward.
